How long did it take before you got hooked on X?

More specifically,X Spaces.

The chaotic rooms where one "quick listen" turned into hours of chatting, connecting,

Debating, trauma dumping, cutting each other off, heck even cussing at one another.

A week? A month? Or did it creep up faster than an STD after a one night stand with a stranger at the club?

How Jennifer Anniston’s LolaVie brand grew sales 40% with CTV ads

For its first CTV campaign, Jennifer Aniston’s DTC haircare brand LolaVie had a few non-negotiables. The campaign had to be simple. It had to demonstrate measurable impact. And it had to be full-funnel.

LolaVie used Roku Ads Manager to test and optimize creatives — reaching millions of potential customers at all stages of their purchase journeys. Roku Ads Manager helped the brand convey LolaVie’s playful voice while helping drive omnichannel sales across both ecommerce and retail touchpoints.

The campaign included an Action Ad overlay that let viewers shop directly from their TVs by clicking OK on their Roku remote. This guided them to the website to buy LolaVie products.

🔕Back To FOMO🔕

👇🏻

HOW DOES IT START?

Platforms like X are wired for addiction.

Endless notifications, FOMO from space convos, and that illusion of “community”🌚.

One amazing encounter leads to a follow, DM, and frequent space popups.

You meet people who "get you”, who say “I Found MY PEOPLE!” (bet you heard that before).

Some even dream about spaces, I know i have a couple of times.

Weird right?

However…..

The Real Trap?

Monetization: X dangles “making a living on X” with requirements ofc. The main one being 5M impressions in 3 months.

People spend sleepless night engaging, chasing the numbers just to hit the 5M goal.

Which comes at a price…..

BURNOUT, ADDICTION, INSOMNIA, ISOLATION, MOOD SWINGS ETC.

Along the way, X Spaces piques your interest…

Thats When Things Go South.

SEVERE ADDICTION

(Scenario)

Your whole day bends around space schedules.

You open the app before your feet hit the floor. Breakfast? Cold. Work? Slipping. Sleep?

That's for people who aren't "Insane."

You tell yourself one more space, but there's always another one starting.

The high of connection slowly flips into anxiety.

“What if something big happens while I'm offline?”

So you stay. Glued to the app.

Real relationships start feeling like interruptions. Your body is present, but your mind is replaying an “After Dark” space from 3am with people you've never actually seen IRL.

Then the fog sets in.

Productivity tanks. Mood swings come out of nowhere. The "community" that once felt like home starts feeling like a trap you willingly walked into and keep walking back to.

The wild part?

YOU KNOW IT'S HAPPENING. AND YET YOU LOG BACK ON ANYWAY.

BREAK THE CYCLE

You stepped into those spaces for fun, for relief, thinking “oh plz.. no harm no foul, What can go wrong?”

However boundaries blur fast, now those same spaces begin bleeding into your dreams

Your meals, work, relationships etc. Yeahhh…. I wouldn’t call that “FUN” anymore.

I’d call that a problem.

Look In The Mirror

Ask:

  • How many hours am I actually spending on spaces? (Check your screen time)

  • Am I walking away feeling energized or drained, anxious, and irritable?

  • What real life stuff is collecting dust while I'm glued to a virtual room?

Do This 👇🏻

Set a hard cap — 1 hour a day. App limits exist for a reason, use them.

Protect your offline time — meals, work, sleep etc. Should not get notifications. None. (unless it’s an emergency duh)

Be smart, — if monetization is the goal, quality content beats all or… just rage bait stan accounts (instant high numbers, they’ll find your address tho 😳)

Log off on purpose — 24 to 48 hours a week, no X. Journal how that feels. You might surprise yourself.

Talk to someone real — a friend, PSYCHIATRIST, whoever. Especially if the pull feels impossible to resist on your own.

Keep in mind X Spaces can spark real ideas and real connections. But not at the cost of your actual life & MENTAL HEALTH.

X SPACES HIT DIFFERENT AT 2 AM

JUST LIKE EVERY BAD DECISION THAT FELT GOOD IN THE MOMENT.

You wouldn't ignore a burning sensation for weeks right…?

So why are you ignoring the inevitable burnout?
