This is being done like everything else… Last Minute. 🥸
Anyways, I was on a 𝕏 space the other day and a topic got brought up. I thought to myself hmm.. 🧐 this would be great to write about.
So, have you heard of the 3 dark kings? aka The Dark Triad?
No?
well well well…. One is insane, the other is fking fragile who always plays the victim, and lastly the puppet master 😳 someone who uses any means necessary to win no matter the cost.
The Tyrant King: Psychopath
The coldest of the trio, often glamorized in movies as the charming killer (think Patrick Bateman in American Psycho).
You may be thinking why Bateman? and not Joe Goldberg? Believe it or not Joe isnt a psychopath, but thats for another time…
Psychopathy is about fearless dominance and zero remorse. It's wired deep possibly genetic and shows up in bold risk takers.
Signature Traits
Impulsivity: Acts on whims, no second thoughts. Thrill seeking is their fuel.
Lack of Remorse: Hurts others? "So what?" No guilt trips here.
Superficial Charm: Charismatic on the surface, but hollow inside.
Fearlessness: Thrives under pressure great for high stakes jobs like surgeons or soldiers.
Antisocial Behavior: Breaks rules for fun or gain. Empathy? Optional upgrade they skipped.
Subtypes
Psychopathy breaks into 2 primary subtypes, with some overlap into a third.
Primary Psychopathy: The "born" type charming, low anxiety, calculated cruelty.
Secondary Psychopathy: More reactive, impulsive, often tied to trauma or environment.
Successful vs. Unsuccessful: "Successful" psychopaths channel it into CEO roles, "unsuccessful" end up in trouble.
Psychopathy is rare in the general population, but it concentrates wherever power, risk, and rule breaking pay off. Some end up in prison. Others learn how to weaponize the traits and rise instead.
The Self Crowned King: Narcissism
This guy's the spotlight stealer, the one who walks into a room and declares himself emperor.
Rooted in Greek myth (hello, Narcissus staring at his reflection), narcissism is all about an inflated sense of self importance.
It's not just vanity it's a survival strategy where the world orbits you.
The Royal Arsenal Traits
Grandiosity: Believes they're destined for greatness. "I'm not arrogant, I'm just better."
Entitlement: Expects special treatment.
Attention Seeking: Craves admiration like oxygen. Social media? Their throne room.
Empathy Deficit: Struggles to care about other’s feelings unless it benefits them.
Fragile Ego: Under the crown? A fear of being ordinary. Criticism? It leads to Instant rage.
Subtypes
There are about 3 main subtypes in narcissism research:
Grandiose Narcissism: The bold, charismatic show off (think flashy entrepreneurs or reality TV stars).
Vulnerable Narcissism: The hidden insecure type hypersensitive, resentful, and avoidant. (I Fking Hateeee This one)
Malignant Narcissism: The extreme edge, blending with antisocial vibes (rare, but think historical tyrants).
Fun Fact: High narcissists often climb corporate ladders faster, but they crash harder in relationships. Spot one? They're the friend who turns every convo back to themselves.
The Puppet Master: Machiavellianism
Named after Niccolò Machiavelli, the 16th century Italian strategist whose book The Prince basically said, "Ends justify the means."
This king rules from the shadows, pulling strings like a puppet master. It's calculated cunning not brute force.
The Chessboard Moves
Manipulation Mastery: Deceives, flatters, or schemes to get ahead. "Trust me" is their opener.
Cynical Worldview: Sees people as pawns.
Strategic Planning: Long game thinkers. They plot careers, deals, or seductions months ahead.
Emotional Detachment: Keeps feelings at arm's length vulnerability is weakness.
Opportunism: Spots and exploits weaknesses faster than you can say "alliance."
Subtypes
Machiavellianism doesn't have as many formal splits, but experts carve out 2-3 key variations:
High Machi: Pure strategists, thriving in competitive fields like politics or sales.
Low Machi: More ethical, but still pragmatic (the "light side" of cunning).
Adaptive vs. Maladaptive: Some use it for good (negotiation pros), others go full dark (con artists).
Pro Tip: In business, Machi traits can seal deals, but in love? They're the worst. They plan the exit from date one. 😳
What Binds the 3 Dark Kings?
These aren't isolated rulers they overlap like a venomous Venn diagram, amplifying each other for max impact.
Exploitation Core: All three view people as tools, not equals. Empathy is a bug, not a feature.
Power Hunger: Driven by dominance whether through ego (narc), schemes (Machi), or fearlessness (psych).
Adaptability Edge: They thrive in chaos, outmaneuvering "nice" folks in cutthroat worlds like dating apps, startups, or politics.
Dark Side Risks: High levels link to toxicity broken relationships, ethical slips, even burnout from constant games.
The Flip Side: In moderation? Game changers. Low dose narcissism builds confidence. Mach sharpens strategy psychopathy fuels boldness.

This is the end of the newsletter. If any of these resonated with you….. Someone's in trouble 😯.
Growth Tip: Don’t Get Caught
